Overview

The CTIP + KidsX MedTech Innovation Challenge aims to support the advancement of pediatric medical devices developed at CTIP and KidsX partner hospital and academic organizations. All relevant faculty and staff are invited to submit their pediatric medical device projects for consideration in this challenge. Eligible submissions will be invited to participate in an entrepreneurial bootcamp designed to educate innovators on the pediatric innovation landscape and how to advance their projects toward commercial viability. High-impact projects will be selected to be a part of the CTIP portfolio and will receive support including access to advisors and consulting services, funding opportunities, and educational resources.

Eligibility

  • Must be an active consortium community or KidsX member organization (hospital or academic collaborators only)
  • The submission must be a novel pediatric medical device or technology (pre-clinical/clinical stage preferred)
  • Devices must meet the FDA definition of a medical device
  • Novel drugs, chemical therapies, process improvement innovations, and fetal devices/technologies without pediatric applications are not eligible
  • The innovation should lead to improved patient experience, quality, outcomes, or efficiency

Submission Process and Timeline

  • Submission Window: September 3 - December 3, 2024
  • Finalist Notification: December 13, 2024
  • Entrepreneurial Bootcamp: January - February 2025
  • Award Notification: March 10, 2025

Application and Award

All eligible submissions will be invited to participate in the entrepreneurial bootcamp. Participation is required for final selection consideration. At least one representative from each project submission must participate. Expected time commitment is between 5-10 hours over a two month period.

Upon completion of the bootcamp, the final awardees will be selected and notified. The award includes admission into CTIP’s Portfolio and access to advisors and consulting services, funding opportunities, and educational resources across domains including but not limited to regulatory consulting, market analysis, business consulting, reimbursement strategy, prototype development and product design development, manufacturing, and clinical validation plan design.
