2024 Innovation Challenge Bootcamp Kickoff

CHICAGO, IL – JANUARY 9, 2025 – The Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP) and KidsX proudly announce the application closure and bootcamp kickoff for finalists of the CTIP + KidsX MedTech Innovation Challenge, an initiative designed to advance pediatric medical device innovation and transform health care delivery for children worldwide.

The MedTech Innovation Challenge provides a platform for hospital staff and faculty innovators to receive support on early-stage projects addressing critical gaps in pediatric health care. Participants reflected a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with 70% of participants being women and 60% identifying as persons of color. Applications spanned various development stages, from concept to advanced prototypes, and covered FDA device classifications, including Class I, II, and combination products. Applications were received from more than 10+ hospitals and healthcare organizations across the United States and internationally.

The Challenge received applications from groundbreaking solutions such as devices targeting adolescent endometriosis, neonatal oxygen management, and AI-enhanced precision dosing for pediatric oncology. These innovations address a wide range of pediatric health care needs, from critical care to behavioral development, showcasing the transformative potential of collaboration in this space.

About CTIP and KidsX Consortia
The Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP) and KidsX are uniquely positioned within consortia of collaborators that  total over 40 leading pediatric hospitals and health care provider organizations. The Innovation Challenge leveraged these networks to uncover innovative pediatric medical device solutions developed by hospital staff and faculty to ultimately support the translation of these projects into practical, high-impact medical devices.By addressing barriers to commercialization, this Challenge is a critical step in advancing pediatric health technology.

Entrepreneurial Bootcamp and Next Steps
Finalists will now embark on an entrepreneurial bootcamp running from January through March 2025, designed to provide the tools and knowledge needed for the path towards commercialization. Final awardees will be notified in March and gain access to CTIP support services, including non-dilutive funding opportunities, advisory and consulting services, and more.
