Steve Xu MD, MSc is a physician-engineer, entrepreneur, and board-certified dermatologist. He is the CEO and co-founder of Sibel Health as well as the Ruth K. Freinkel, MD Professor at Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from Rice University summa cum laude, an MD from Harvard Medical School (Soros Fellow), and a Masters in Health Policy from The London School of Economics (Marshall Scholar). Dr. Xu has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and listed as an inventor on 15 pending and granted patents. As both an NIH, Gates Foundation, FDA, and DoD funded investigator, he has led complex engineering, artificial intelligence, and clinical development efforts worldwide. As an MIT 35 Under 35 Technology innovator, his publications have appeared in Nature, Science, The Proceedings of the National Academy of Medicine, and the New England Journal of Medicine garnering press attention from The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times. Within 4 years of founding, Sibel Health has obtained six FDA 510(k) clearances, monitored more than 16,000 individuals, and launched in more than 20 countries worldwide with its ICU-grade wearable sensors for maternal neonatal health.
